Legal Action, Prayer Requests, and Praises

At the beginning of all of this, Clint wanted to settle it quickly and preserve the relationship. The other person says they are a Christian. Clint offered that both sides settle the dispute by giving the house to charity. Clint was very willing to do this since it would have proven to both parties what was really important to the other person. Our family has also seen God's abundant provision in response to giving and know God would have blessed us. Clint's offer was met with a swift and indignant "Absolutely not!!" They would not even take a few days to pray over it.

The week before Christmas, Clint sent the person responsible for this a letter requesting he be paid an amount much lower than what his lawyer said he could easily pursue in the courts. This is to buy him out of the property. He asked the matter be settled before February 15th. The person waited until a few days before the 15th to speak to even Clint about it.

They have found Clint's offer unfair and came back with a much lower figure. To keep out of court, Clint was willing to split the difference. He divided that in half, subtracted another $500 from his side, and his offer was still refused.

At one point, Clint was even asked, "What makes you feel you DESERVE this property?" That would be like someone stopping you in a parking lot and asking you why you deserved your car more than them. There isn't logic in greed. Greed and pride are so wrapped up in their hearts, they can't see anything else. When someone values themselves more worthy of your property than you, the owner, you are not going to be able to work with them.

So, we need prayer as we go forward. God is already providing. We are very blessed to have not only a good lawyer, but one who has been treated the same by her family. She already knows what Clint is going through and because of that, she wants to fight hard for him. She knows the different suits that will be successful for Clint. God was very gracious in giving us someone with her experience.

We are also very blessed to have a high school friend who is a lawyer. This thing came out of no where and fell on us like a ton of bricks. It was during that overwhelming time our friend gave us advice. Thank you, L.!

As more of our friends have learned what is going on, the ones who are lawyers and the ones who are close to lawyers, have all come to our aid. God has blessed us with more resources than we know what to do with. We have had a lot of free legal advice given to us. It is like an army has come to defend us! It is amazing how God has provided!

God has also blessed us with different ways we can pursue this in the courts. We need prayers for wisdom and guidance.

He has also blessed us with not only the proof to back up our story at every level, but gave us a lawyer who knows exactly what will prove our case and how what we have will be viewed in the court. God has put us in the "best legal standing anyone could possibly be in" according to our lawyer.

The things Clint has tried and failed may seem like defeats. Our lawyer says they are actually small victories because Clint can prove to the court he tried to work out a very reasonable solution and was willing to meet them more than halfway, but they would not do the same with him. This makes Clint look very favorable in the eyes of the courts.

Our prayer is that we will honor the Lord the whole way through and glorify His Name. Once the court has heard our side, the entire story and evidence will become permanent public record. Future generations will read these documents. We want to maintain our integrity and show how God cares for and provides His own.

When I focus on the mental anguish Clint and I have endured because of their treachery, I miss the ways God has provided. When I think about how the person's actions are full of greed, pride, envy, self righteousness (forms of hate), I miss out on God's incredible love for us through this. When I focus on how bad I feel to have been manipulated, I miss out on how good it feels to be a child of the King.

This is an extremely hard thing, but as we have done all along, we will try very hard to keep our eyes on Jesus. Please pray for us. Also, please PRAISE with us for all God has already done! What was hidden from us was brought into the light by our Father. Being battered and bruised right now, it is hard to imagine He means this for our good, but we have known Him long enough to stand on those promises.
