How We Made Raised Beds in Our Garden

collards
This year, we decided to make raised beds so we could save space by planting closer. Clint cut down the trees and the middle boys limbed them. Then Clint positioned them in the garden and the boys worked with him to fill them with dirt for me.

This is my bed of collards. The missing gaps are where the dog dug..sigh. I will reseed those areas soon.

I also planted 65 tomato plants around the outside of the garden fence this year. They are mulched and sunflowers are planted between them. The fence will give them some support. I will either add some chicken wire or stakes to support them.

That's Hannah on her way to the swing set, btw.
