How to Treat Your Enemies

With love and especially for the ladies in the churches in Pakistan, Philippines, China, and India:

Romans 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

John 15:12-15 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.

Matthew 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

God loved us when we were offensive to Him. That is so profound, especially coupled with the verses on how to love each other and love our enemies.

It is when we make that great effort to love our worst enemies that we understand God's love for us. It is when we grow as Christians. It's not easy, but rarely does anything worth having come with ease.

I am thankful I have a husband who has exampled this. He is wise enough to see the source of the battle and take steps to do his part in fighting back. He has been a blessing to myself and my children by actively leading us through some very challenging circumstances.
