My friend Linda gave me a tip to put down old comforters, rugs, tarps, anything you have on hand that can cover a walk way. She has enough on hand to cover her entire deck and porches. When the snow is over, you just find the edge, carefully pull back, and have a relatively clear walkway. I don't think this will work well for enormous snowfalls, but it works just fine in our area.
