Complaining is Ineffective; Do Something That Changes Things

People do their country more service by
pleading for it in prayer
than by finding fault with things
they have no power to alter.
-John Newton

I set aside time every week to do nothing else except pray for all of our nation's leaders. Dear Reader, why do you think Paul urged us to pray for leaders? Do you think it is a better use of time than complaining and worrying?

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
I Timothy 2:1-4

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
