How Very True and How Very Deep

If any man thinks ill of you, do not be angry with him,
for you are far worse than he thinks you to be.
Charles Spurgeon

Psalm 16:2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned

Dear Reader, Our pride likes to puff our egos up and make us think we are more important than we really are. We rationalize in ways that our sin is less serious, less harmful than someone else's sins. The truth is there is no good in us other than Christ. Apart from Christ, we can accomplish nothing good. Apart from Christ, we have no hope or future. We each desperately need Jesus.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
