TOE the Line or "The Mamas" Will Get You

Around the time of his first lung collapse, Caleb had a piece of heavy oak plywood fall on his feet with his big TOES taking the brunt of the impact. He never told us. He cleaned them and got back to work.

Pict taken about two weeks ago.
His toenails were forced down into his tissues of his toes from the impact.
In the picture, his toes are still bloody.
In other pictures, you can still see fat deposits that were forced out.

He has had a month's healing time on them in the picture you see above, and they are still horrible looking! I can't imagine how they looked at the time of injury. A nurse discovered them when checking his toes for color. She was appalled he had been walking around like that for a month and said she was upset he had not told anyone.

The RN with boys Caleb's age then fussed at him like a mother about not telling his parents and getting his feet treated. "You go look at the pictures of foot infections online! Don't you do this again! You slow down enough to take care of yourself!" Then she took care of his toes by soaking, cleansing, medicating, and wrapping them. Then, she fussed at him again.

She did it because she cared.

Young people, take note. If someone fusses over you or at you, they are taking their time and investing their emotional energy into you because they care for you.
