In my children's studies of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, they learned he was friend's with another Christian author C. S. Lewis. This fact really engaged them in their studies of these two men's writings. Brandon, Joshua, and Bethany enjoyed stepping into a real life example of Tolkien's imagination at Hobbit's Dream in Fairfield, VA.
While talking to the owner, Randy H., they learned the bathroom sink (pictured above) was made by him from an old propane tank. Many of the items in the hobbit home were made by the owner and his wife. He features classes where you can learn to make some of the items.
