Cat's Claw is da bomb! A CoVid Treatment that worked for us!

Clint and I took a turn yesterday evening. Our temps were 103 and 102. Before then, we had been running low-grade temps. We both were feeling very poorly, and I was very concerned at how Clint's voice was sounding. I was also coughing a lot. The aches and pains increased and were making it so we could not rest well. Thank the Lord for His perfect timing and the good people He has placed in our lives, we did not have to suffer for more than a few hours!!

A good friend reminded me about Cat's Claw.

I researched it extensively when Clint had Lyme. We had both taken it in the past with no side effects.

So, we both took 6 450 mg capsules. Within an hour, our fevers had broken and all of the aches and pains were gone. I had a little stomach upset from the high dose, but it was a much welcome trade!

Clint and I feel almost normal today, and it is AMAZING!! We still have a little tiredness, but it isn't keeping us down. The difference between before and after is like night and day.

We will keep taking it, but in smaller doses, to make sure we have eradicated the virus from our systems.

You revealed exactly who you are, and you don't even know how you did it.
Freaking hilarious! We are glad we had another opportunity to share the gospel with you. We forgive you. We love you!

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17

Prayer for Timmy, Please

Oct 1: Timmy is home and says he is feeling better.

Sept 29: Timmy is supposed to be released from the hospital today.

Sept 27: Timmy is in the hospital with pneumonia. He has COPD. Last Thursday, he told me he had been having trouble catching his breath for three days. I encouraged him to call. He called on Friday, and they admitted him right away. I heard from him via text on Sunday but have not heard any more from him since.

I want to learn to be more self reliant but

I want to learn to be more self-reliant because I believe times will get harder soon. There's so much I want to do and learn. With my ADD, I just get so worked up and overwhelmed. Where should I start?

Since you desire to learn a lot of skills, why not buy a book or two that broadly covers homesteading skills like The Encyclopedia of Country Living or Back to Basics: How to Learn and Enjoy Traditional American Skills? Then you have the knowledge in an easily accessible form and knowing that may help calm your mind. After that, I'd pick the area that would give me the biggest return for the least amount of money and time investment. I started like this in the early 90s. After I got a handle on that skill, I moved to the next. It did not take as long as you might think to become proficient in the different skills I desired to learn. It also might be helpful to write out and post your goals divided into steps. Then when your ADD interferes, go to the list and use it to reorganize your thoughts.

Please use the search bar in the upper left-hand corner to see if any posts here might help you. Feel free to email (in the header) with any questions. I love helping others learn.

Bethany's News

Bethany told most of us in person and then sent a group text to cover the family members not present due to CoVid.

"I received a call from work yesterday. I was commended for my hard work. I was told I was one of the people who allowed us to cut back hours and still maintain our order numbers. For that, I received a $2.75 an hour raise."

It's a very cheery Get Well wish that includes a raise!

Heads Up

Sept 28: A friend, who had both CoVid-19 vaccines (months ago) and the flu shot (six weeks ago), came down with both CoVid and the flu at the same time. She works with three members of our family.

The restaurant is closed for the next week because they now have 9 or 10 people out with CoVid at the same time. Interestingly enough, half of those were vaccinated.

My children's boss at the restaurant is paying every employee for the week they are closed.

Everyone in our family has CoVid except Caleb and Amanda.

Caleb took a test today, and it was negative. He informed his other employer that he was exposed and is out for the week from there too. He is using the time to work on some projects. I hope he avoids symptoms, but we will see what happens.

Amanda had a headache for a day, but that is it. She dropped off some groceries (at the door) so I could make turmeric chicken soup for the family.

Brandon and Joshua recovered in four days. Bethany recovered in three days. Emily and Hannah shook it off in two days.

Today is day five for me. I am feeling OK except for being tired. For those who have not had it, it feels like the flu. I have been able to get up and accomplish something every day.

Today is day four for Clint. He is seeing improvement but still has an upset stomach. He was running a low-grade temp again this morning.

Clint, Brandon, Joshua, and Bethany all tested positive. There is no need for the rest of us to test. We are all quarantining except Amanda.

We are all doing very well with it so far.

Clint can go back to work on Tuesday. He has to stay out ten days from the start of his symptoms. His vacation will cover his time off.

Thank you to the ones who have checked on us and offered to help. Love to all from all of us!

******

Sept 30: Clint and I are completely well as of late last night. We took Cat's Claw, and it shut the virus down in our bodies. We have just a little bit of tiredness today.

Joshua's News!

Joshua, who went from kitchen worker to manager in one leap, was called into a meeting with his newest boss who will now run the daily operations. Joshua had no idea why he was being called into a meeting

Joshua was highly praised and called the most versatile employee they have. The boss told him he did not want to lose him, so he gave him a $3 raise (on top of raises he has already received this year) and told him there would be more raises down the road if his performance stays the same.

Joshua was also told that if there is anything he wants, they will work with him to make it happen.

We are very proud of Joshua and his outstanding work performance!

2a

My family knows I admire our local artist, Chuck Dickerson, and have been trying to get me a painting for many years. Chuck paints on sidewalks in our small rural town. This wouldn't be a big deal, except Chuck has two prosthetic arms due to an injury when he was a young man. (If you search Google for Chuck Dickerson artist, you will find his story.)

Every time my family would see Chuck, he had already sold the painting he was working on. Caleb had tried many times. Clint had tried hard too. I had given up hope of obtaining one.

Clint and Caleb had asked me what type I wanted. Chuck did too when I wrote him trying to figure out where he'd be so I could buy a painting. I told them I wanted a mountain scene with water.

Clint was on his way to me after having sold something from our farm. That meant he had cash, and it happened to be just enough cash in his pocket. Clint was not traveling in Chuck's usual area, so he was surprised to see him standing outside of a gas station painting.

Clint turned around and went back to Chuck. Chuck was painting just what I had asked for...

a mountain scene with water.

Clint told me when he gave the painting to me: "I am convinced the Lord wanted you to have THIS painting. It is exactly what you wanted. Chuck was in a different area and so was I. He was also in just the right spot I could see him. And, I had the right amount of cash in my pocket to get it for you. God wanted YOU to have THIS painting, Wendy."

I will remember that when I look at it. I will also remember how my family tried so hard for so long to get me a painting from Chuck. Last, but not least, I will remember the artist who has endured so much and found a way to make beauty from ashes.

Clint told him he wanted the painting for me. Chuck signed it, and Clint brought it home still wet from being on the easel.

Watch the Pennies

moreandmoreerrorsinpricebreakdown2

Pay attention to prices.
Their price breakdown on the smaller package says 3.1 cent per ounce.
I am finding these errors here and there.

I needed four packages for a big meal I am making.

Pay attention young mothers: Pennies add to quarters. Quarters add to dollars. Dollars add to money to invest.

Article: Scientists Creating Matter from Light

Government Scientists Are Creating Matter From Pure Light

Scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory turned light into electrons, validating a theory that dates back nearly a century.

If you have been paying attention...

then you have seen some shocking things happen within the church in recent years. Leaders are being caught up in scandals. They are throwing out sound Biblical teaching and embracing worldly beliefs. They are not only adopting them for themselves, but they are helping promote them.

Are we witnessing the falling away aka stumbling that Jesus told us to look for in Matthew 24? It sure looks like it.

And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. Matthew 24:10-12

“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:11-14

Dear Reader: What are you doing to ensure you are NOT one of the ones who are falling or will fall away? Are you opening and studying your Bible frequently or are you lying to yourself thinking you do not have time and do not need to do so? Are you so cocky about your faith that you are not studying the Word with humility and fresh eyes with the goal of shoring up your faith? Are asking God to correct you where you are wrong?‬ I know we can not rely on our own strength in this hour. I encourage you to seek Him and study the Bible like no other time in your life while praying for protection from false teachings. I would be very ashamed if I stood before Him and learning I embraced something that was a lie of the enemy. I want to share His truth no matter who it offends and no matter what it costs me. The hour is late. This is the time we need to call sin what it is and point people to the redemption in Jesus. My love to all!

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

Liniment Part 2

pouring

serranopepperliniment5

serranopepperliniment6

I let the pepper ends steep in the isopropyl alcohol until earlier this month to extract the capsaicin. Capsaicin is the same ingredient used in some OTC heat rubs. I strained and added more isopropyl alcohol to cool it down after doing a skin patch test. I may need to add more isopropyl later because it can "warm" more as it sits on the shelf which is why skin patch tests are important. Correctly and clearly labeling is vital.

I got a little over 50 ounces of liniment from the "waste" of the serrano peppers. So basically for the cost of the isopropyl alcohol, I made quite a bit of liniment using the throwaway part of something I had already invested my money and time into.

Clint LOVES this when he has a muscle strain or a sprain. It heats up again in the morning when he showers, so one rub down with it is like two applications.

Family members told me my great-grandmother was a strong Christian and Native American who was shunned by some during the day because she used herbal medicine. Some of those same people came to her for medicine in the evenings when the others could not see. She was quite popular for both her medicinal skills and her gardening abilities. She and my great grandfather ran a florist shop in Churchland, VA called Bailey's Florist.

This is a follow-up to this post.

Ivermectin

Ivermectin for Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19 Infection: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-317485/v1

"capable of driving this virus to extinction" -Dr. Lawrie

Dr. Tess Lawrie’s Meta-Analysis on Ivermectin to Be Published as Peer-Reviewed Paper

https://covid19up.org/dr-tess-lawrie-meta-analysis-ivermectin-peer-reviewed-paper/

In social media and in the MSM, we see people promoting it as a cure-all and others saying it will never work. I think we need to be more open-minded. Instead of making fun of something or calling something a miracle cure, we need to have more balanced thinking.

A compounding pharmacy in my local area is selling and shipping Rx Ivermectin all over the country. A pharmacist working there shared with me that it does work amazingly well for the majority of people. She has witnessed amazing and fast turnarounds in health. However, for others, it is not working as well or at all.

I know people who used it and were cured. One was very ill for three weeks. She thought she would die. A person obtained and brought them Ivermectin. She saw improvement in her breathing in 12 hours and was well by three days.

An acquaintance was near death and nothing was helping. The doctors had called the family to let them know her death was imminent. Her sister, who was allowed to see her, brought her the horse paste and gave a dose to her. She took a picture of her sick sister in the ICU. The sick sister's breathing improved quite a bit within hours. The helping sister hoped that was enough so she did not give her a dose the next day. The sick sister declined in health. The sister gave her a dose daily for either three or four days (I do not recall the exact number.) after that and her sister was out of the hospital a day later. I am simply relaying the facts here.

I am NOT recommending giving horse paste to humans. I dose animals on our farm with it. It would be hard to give an accurate dosage. There is a twist-style locking ring on the plunger that you set at 50-pound increments. With air pockets in the gel or paste, it becomes very unreliable. You can legally obtain Ivermectin in pill form through online doctors. I was told the fee to interact with one to obtain the Rx is $150 which is very reasonable. Ivermectin can be tricky about how it is absorbed depending on how it is taken. It can also build up in the system which can lead to toxicity.

Another friend obtained it for her husband through a prescription she received through online doctors after everything else failed to help him. It turned his near-death situation around very rapidly. He credits Ivermectin with saving his life.

There are so many stories like these. Are they all lying? delusional? Is the wealth of research wrong about how safe it is? Are doctors in other countries who are using it for CoVid and saying it works lying? All of them? Why would they do that? Why would ivermectin want to be kept from people? Does medical corruption exist? Are people greedy? Is it possible for something to not work for some and work for others?

I researched Ivermectin in detail in the 90s because I was frequently exposed to it while working with livestock. I knew it could be absorbed through the skin and was concerned for the child I was carrying in my womb. I learned Ivermectin is a very well-documented drug, has been widely used in humans in other countries for decades, was used to worm children and adults in Vietnam, and has very few side effects. It is a very safe drug to use. It is also very cheap.

With CoVid affecting people so differently, from some having it with no symptoms and others suffering for months with others dying, a "one size fits all" approach doesn't seem very likely. I believe the people who say Ivermectin worked, but I also believe the pharmacist who says it's not working for everyone.

Shared with me:

Ivermectin is as safe as aspirin and penicillin.

"There are few drugs that can seriously lay claim to the title of ‘Wonder drug’, penicillin and aspirin being two that have perhaps had greatest beneficial impact on the health and wellbeing of Mankind. But ivermectin can also be considered alongside those worthy contenders, based on its versatility, safety and the beneficial impact that it has had, and continues to have, worldwide—especially on hundreds of millions of the world’s poorest people." Crump A, ÅŒmura S. Ivermectin, 'wonder drug' from Japan: the human use perspective. Proc Jpn Acad Ser B Phys Biol Sci. 2011;87(2):13-28. doi:10.2183/pjab.87.13

Groceries are going up. Shortages are here. What can you do about it?

Commodity freight rates poised to 'go parabolic,' Genco CEO says To get a better overview of coming supply chain challenges and price increases, it is very helpful to watch the freight industry.

Grocery Store Shortages Comparable to 2020 — Are You Prepared for Lack of Supply During the Holidays?

I have a very hard time believing that there isn't something every able-bodied person can do to store up extra food to help offset shortages and rising prices.

Can you practice reducing food waste? Use all of what you have prepared. Buy a chicken at .98 a pound. Roast it with veggies. Reserve the meat and veggies. Take all of the chicken scraps (bones, fat, cartilage, skin) to a pot. In an oven, you could roast the chicken scraps first for additional flavor. Add any vegetable scraps (celery, onion and carrot ends, potato peelings, etc) in the pot with the chicken scraps. Bring to a boil, then reduce and allow to simmer for hours to make a rich broth. Strain. Toss in a few new veggies, add seasonings, and cook until veggies are slightly tender. Then add the meat and veggies you reserved and heat thoroughly. This is an easy way to get all of the nutrition out of the items you have purchased and to get a few meals from one bird.

Can you grow cool-season or quicker maturing vegetables between now and your frost date?

Can you grow lettuce in your windows (research Kratzky)?

Can you buy seeds for 12 crops you can grow next year? Can you read and watch videos and learn how to start seeds, harden off and transplant seedlings, watch for and eliminate pests, harvest, preserve, collect seeds from the plants you grew, short day vs long day, etc? Some believe the stereotype that farmers are simple-minded, but there is a great deal of science one must know to get consistent good harvests.

Can you buy lights to grow food under? Some people are using multiple layers of these to grow lettuce, tomato plants, microgreens, etc. Tip: Mylar blankets can reflect the light back to the plants.

Can you harvest and preserve wild edibles?

Are you able to purchase or barter for laying hens (chickens)? You do not need a rooster for a hen to lay an egg. If you have room for them to forage for their own food, you can use a sturdy large dog carrier (not a wire crate) as a coop. A coop and fenced-in area can also be bush-crafted, but it is labor-intensive. Research how to predator-proof. Everything eats chicken.

Can you trade labor at a local farm in exchange for food you can preserve?

Does a neighbor or a family member have fruit trees they are not utilizing? In a neighborhood near my own, I am watching heavily laden apple trees go untouched. The fruit is falling on the ground where it will rot. Year to year, the able-bodied people in the house do not appreciate or make use of this resource which could help them or someone else. If I knew them, I'd ask if I could have them and would gift them with a jar of applesauce.

Can you use different apps and couponing websites to help you find bargains? Much of the time the coupons are for beauty aids and cleaners or junk food. However, if you save money in those areas, you can take the savings and apply to food.

Can you buy a cheap fishing pole and catch fish you can preserve?

Can you regrow kitchen scraps like lettuce and celery bottoms? grocery store gardening?

Can you grow herbs in your windowsill?

Can you plant fruit trees, fruiting vines and bushes, perennial vegetables? Propagation skills, easy to learn, will make it very economical.

Can you research frugal meals and penny-pinching methods in other areas to free up more money for food?

Can you recycle metal, pick up aluminum soda cans, sell off unnecessary items to obtain more money for food now to help give yourself more of a cushion?

Can you delve into the history of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, or the collapse of Venezuela and the aftermath? Phillippines? What can you glean from those subjects that will be useful to you and your family?

Dear Reader, With so much bad news hitting us from every angle, it is very easy to allow fear to get a grip on your thoughts. When I feel myself becoming fearful, I may do all or just one or a few of the following: I do self-reflection...what things do I need to change in me to become more like Him. Those sinful areas that are revealed- I repent of and plead with the Lord to help me become more like Him. I do Bible studies on relevant topics. I remind myself of how God has provided for and protected my family from those who wished to harm us in the past. I also study and restudy prophecy. I stop following the news for a week and give more attention to the Lord through personal Bible study, sermons, worship music, Christian fellowship, etc.

The fastest and most effective cure for fear I have found and have used for decades...is to remind myself of just Who God is, what He has done for His people before, what He says He will do, and who I am to Him. When I answer those questions, my heart is often instantly calmed.

Fear comes from taking our "eyes" aka expectations off of Jesus and placing them on the storm. Watch the storm knowing God is in control and will make His move according to His perfect plan.

My love to all!

Slow down. Take it in.

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tender-hearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

"Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
"Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
"And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
"Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
"And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Do the Math: The Sequel

I am a home economizer and also run some side hustles to help cover the costs to feed our livestock. I pay attention to the bottom line because I do not like to do things that are wasteful with my time or money. I want my efforts to directly bless my family and friends. I also help keep an eye out for others who have very tight budgets. With so many mouths to feed, my food budget can get 💥 blown wide open 💥 without diligence in accounting.

The canned dog food I purchase for my old lady dogs went from .58 to .98 a can. That is a 68% increase. There is also a shortage of pet food in my area. Our community is helping each other find where it is on the shelves and some are donating pet food to those who have been unable to find it. I love that about where I live!! People here have such big hearts for one another.

The bottled water I purchase went from $3.38 to $4.38 a case. That is a 29% increase.

The spaghetti sauce I purchase went from .88 to $1.28 which is a 45% increase. The price on this jumped to 1.34, went back down to .88, and then went to 1.28 over a two-week period. The same brand offers another variety for the original .88 price, so check the prices on the same brand varieties carefully. You may find a cheaper option.

The article I linked to below says poultry only went up 6.6%. I am not seeing that in my grocery budget even when I purchase legs and thighs (up 23%).

The dehydrated mashed potatoes I purchase have gone up 47% from what they were just a little over a year ago.

Bacon went up 56%.

Strawberries (2 pounds) went up from 4.98 to 7.79 for a thrifty friend of mine who lives in the midwest. That is a 56% increase. She is buying frozen now which has not increased as much.

Butter was $2.12 and is now $2.96. That's a 39% increase. I price compared with other stores and found it cheaper, so I will switch to buying it from there.

A good friend in NC of mine shared a picture of two rib-eye steaks that were priced $58. TIP: He reported it was cheaper to buy the meal with a slightly smaller portion already cooked at a local restaurant for $14 a plate.

Birthday week. The frosting I usually buy went from .88 to 1.25. That's a 42% increase.

I could go on with more examples, but you get the point. The information on how much grocery prices have supposedly gone up varies from article to article, but I have yet to find one that even comes close.

Conversations I have had with different people show me that many do not realize exactly how much prices are going up. They accept the 3% or 5% they hear and do not think further. I am encouraging you to do the math so you will be accurately informed.

I am not encouraging you to hoard (greedily panic buy an excess during a time where everyone is needing resources-think pre-hurricane) but to add a little extra of your favorite foods each week to soften the blow to your budget and to be in a position to help others. A little at a time adds up much faster than you might think.

Helping Others: Know any large families? Ask them if they need you to pick up anything that has a harsh limit on it. Our local store has a two box limit on spaghetti. It easily takes four boxes in a family of seven growing and very active (play, farm chores, sports) children. That fed everyone and made a little for leftovers. I would often cook six boxes to give us another meal of baked spaghetti later in the week.

Consider this article from September 14, 2021: "Grocery shoppers could be feeling even more of a pinch on their wallets in the checkout line as supermarket giant Kroger says food prices will soon soar." https://tinyurl.com/ufp9sm2d

Dear Reader, That article says another 3% increase. Over the last year, I have yet to calculate a single price and have it come anywhere near the figures they are giving us. With very rare exceptions, I have seen double digits on everything I have checked, and I check several prices each week. I wish I had only seen 3-6%. I certainly hope it is only 3% more. After what I have seen though, I am not banking on it and neither should you. My love to all!

Jesus practicing frugality and stewardship:

When they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost. John 6:12

Article: Time Crystal

Otherworldly 'time crystal' made inside Google quantum computer could change physics forever

The crystal is able to forever cycle between states without losing energy.

 https://www.livescience.com/google-invents-time-crystal

In this sense, a time crystal is like a pendulum that never stops swinging.

"Even if you totally physically isolate a pendulum from the universe, so there's no friction and no air resistance, it will eventually stop. And that's because of the second law of thermodynamics," Achilleas Lazarides, a physicist at the University of Loughborough in the U.K. who was among the scientists to first discover the theoretical possibility of the new phase in 2015, told Live Science. "Energy starts out concentrated in the pendulum's center of mass, but there's all of these internal degrees of freedom — like the ways the atoms can vibrate inside the rod — that it will eventually be transferred into."

In fact, there's no way for a large-scale object to behave like a time crystal without sounding absurd, because the only rules that enable time crystals to exist are the spooky and surreal rules that govern the world of the very small — quantum mechanics

Swallows

barnswallows8_21

Our barn swallows showed off their babies and said goodbye for the year right before they migrated south. They have done this every year. When we are in the pool, they will swoop pretty close to us and capture bugs. They don't mind us, and we don't mind them. We live in harmony!

Biblical Prophecy on the Horizon?

https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2020060606

Dear Reader, Does this tie into Biblical prophecy? Does the publication number make you think of anything? Pray harder than you ever have. Examine every area of your life and get yourself right with God. We are facing many battles.

Turkey x 5

Brandon acquired five turkeys and several ducks. Brandon really enjoys ducks and their antics. He wants to breed them on his 3.5 acre hobby farm. The birds were a package deal.

Brandon was told the turkeys were a Royal Palm, a heritage breed (smaller, reproduce successfully). He was going to keep them at his place and breed them next year. Well, he realized very quickly they were not heritage breeds! The five of them were far too large for his pen. So he put them in one of my spare pens. He wasn't sure what he had. Once I got home, I knew.

They are production turkeys known as White Broad Breasted. They are far too large for Brandon's pen, and the cost to feed them grain only will be enormous. So, he gave them to me.

The two toms are about 50-55 lbs and the three females around 35-40. Emily, who is our poultry trainer, is teaching them to follow her out of the pen in the morning and back into it at night. They are still penned but will be allowed to free-range as soon as they learn the pen is their new home and learn to come when called.

Don't feel bad for them being penned until they learn. Their pen is 40 x 30 with an additional 100 square feet shelter. This is larger than the entire suburban backyard where they lived before.

This breed is generally unable to breed successfully so they have to be artificially inseminated. I used generally because there are exceptions, but it is nothing one can rely upon. I could let them drop off in weight to give them a better chance at breeding successfully, but there are no guarantees it would work.

I could also buy a heritage tom and keep two females. People who have done that say the result is a smaller but faster-growing bird with the coloring of the tom.

It takes a lot of feed to raise a turkey to full weight. It also takes a lot of feed to allow them to maintain that weight.

I will pray about it and think on it.

those going to the slaughter

“Salt. It’s what the church is supposed to be. To preserve, to save the culture, to hold back evil. Do you feel like evil is being held back? And yet there is a church on nearly every corner, with their ridiculous “clever” sayings on their signs. It’s getting harder to stomach even driving by them. It’s not enough just to have a reputation in your community of doing good. It’s only half the job. We *must* expose evil, to hold back those going to the slaughter. “I know your works. You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.” (Rev 3:1,2) Salt that isn’t salty is only good for trampling underfoot. Jesus said that. Judgement never begins with the godless, judgement always begins in the house of God. You as an individual need no one’s permission to do as we have been commanded. You don’t need to wait for a group or a church program. Step out of the corpse and live.” -JS

they had been with Jesus

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men,

they marveled.

And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13

Dear Reader, May people think/say the same about each of us as we seek His will for our lives and try to live out His Word.

Just be in your place.

"Don't be so quick to write off those who are not 'like-minded.' Not everyone is at the same place. Don't feel like everyone has to be standing exactly where you are on every issue. The fact is, not everyone will agree with you on every issue. Just be in your place. Speak and walk in truth. Serve your Brothers and Sisters without judging them. Seek peace and let God be God!" ~from Homeschooling for Eternity

We are called to be united with believers in the Gospel. The secondary matters do not change the need for unity or the Reason we are united. Remember your place. We are servants of the Most High. Servants. We serve Him. His Word says to be united and to outdo each other in love. It does not say to argue over everything else. -Mama Asbell

be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled

"Some things will be happening now right before God's coming that could shake you up quite a bit. I'm referring to events that will be so dramatic that they could leave your head spinning. Occurrences of such serious nature that many people will end up feeling alarmed, panicked, intimidating, and unnerving. Naturally speaking these events could put your nerves on edge and make you feel apprehensive and insecure how I wish I could tell you these incidents were going to be a One-Shot deal but when they finally get rolling they're going to keep coming and coming, one after another. That's why you have to determine not to be shaken or moved by anything you see or hear. You need to get a grip on your mind and refuse to allow yourself to be traumatized by these events. If you let these things get to you it won't be too long until you're a nervous wreck." -author unknown

2 Thessalonians 2:1-2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Until we meet again...

 https://www.vacremationsociety.com/obituary/james-edward-stalnaker-jr/

This is a beautiful write up that honors a strong Christian neighbor and good friend to our family. Please pray for Rose and the rest of Eddie's family.

This and That

We're all OK. It's been very busy.

Clint and I celebrated our 33rd year of marriage and 36th year of being a couple. We had a very nice time away.

In the middle of our anniversary get away, our neighbor called us for help because his aid forgot to secure things before leaving. No one else would answer the phone, so we gladly went to assist him. It was no problem at all. Clint and I are very blessed that we can get in a long weekend together nearly every month, so the interruption wasn't a big deal for either of us. We were happy to help make sure he was safe and comfortable.

As soon as we got home, I knew a friend's time on this earth was very short. I hurried through catching things up at home in case I was called upon as a support person.

A few days after our friend passed, I had to leave again for work (side hustle).

Then I was off to a Labor Day celebration where I prepped food and grilled for eight hours. Our group dined on hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken, shrimp/beef/chicken/pork shishkabobs with plenty of fresh and colorful veggies (yellow squash, zucchini, red and green peppers, sweet purple onions) followed by fruit and some pies.

Then I was off again for more work which is what I am taking a break from at the moment.

I am rewarding myself with a full day of Bible study. Life is busy, but it sure is fun and fruitful!

Brandon was given his review. He received very, very high praises! He was given a very nice raise and a bonus. He was also told that his skill level has advanced enough that his boss is going to recommend him for her position when she leaves the company which will happen in 2-5 years. If he wants it, it will be a sizeable increase in pay for Brandon.

Amanda's boss failed to tell her that she was supposed to work the holiday weekend. She mentioned that she was off, but no one corrected her at the time. When she did not show up, they tried calling, but our family was in an area where there was no reception. One of her co-workers decided to stab her in the back with a lie. Amanda didn't even worry about it. She said the joke was on them because the Lord is on her side and her attendance (perfect) and over-time (a very large amount) record speaks for itself. She went to the boss and set the story straight with directness and honesty like people of integrity do. Her boss told her he believed her and nothing will go on her permanent record. I am very proud of her faith and confidence that the Lord would handle it for her. I am also proud of her for dealing with it quickly with no hesitation or fear.

Joshua has been feeling off. He pukes in the mornings. I am concerned he either has a stomach acid or a blood sugar problem. It's infrequent and tied to not eating regularly. He will get up at 4, skip breakfast, unload a truck for hours for the restaurant, and then eat when lunch rolls around. His teen body handled that well. His adult body is complaining that it needs more nutrition and fuel. He is making adjustments, and we will see what happens.

Caleb is still working three jobs. His bank account is showing his efforts too. Everyone who knows him loves him. He helped his best friend, Desiree, work on her car in the Walmart parking lot when she was stranded this past weekend too.

Bethany is working part-time still. She still does not have her driver's license due to issues with our DMV due to CoVid. We have tried working around it. We have even tried to enroll her in a driving course because the instructor can give her the exam, and she will not need to go to the DMV for the behind-the-wheel test. The local companies are overbooked for the same reasons. Bethany is not in a rush. She has her car and her siblings take her anywhere she wants to go. She is trusting the Lord for the next step.

Emily and Hannah, our two peas in a pod, have been traveling with me some. Other times, they are at home keeping things going and working on their homeschool. They are enjoying the changes in routine. I am enjoying the time with my two youngest daughters in different settings which is bringing out more of their personalities. They are keeping me laughing!

the gate to endless joy

Death is no punishment for the believer.
It is the gate to endless joy.
Charles H Spurgeon

To me, the only important thing about living is Christ.
And even death would be for my benefit.

Mylar Bags of Food for the Struggling

charitywork
a few bags ready to go

I wanted to get a picture and share it before I sent out another batch in case others would like to do the same. I am very tired. I have been measuring, labeling, and sealing food into mylar bags and then putting those into kits for 4.5 hours. I will give leave some of these for the homeless tonight. I know I need to make a post about this now before it slips my mind yet again.

With rising food prices, more and more people are being forced into desperate situations. I believe we, as the Church, if we are able, should help alleviate suffering by tending to people's needs while sharing the gospel.

Dried beans, rice, powdered milk, salt, pepper, spices, sugar, flour, oatmeal, grits, Pop Tart type toaster pastries, yeast packets, are all very well received by those living in the forests in our surrounding cities and counties.

I originally packaged, and still will if necessary, dried goods in freezer bags. I started using mylar a few years ago. The mylar helps protect food from the air and moisture better. Moisture is a big problem for those who live in tents or bush-crafted dwellings. Mylar packaged foods give them a backup food source for when times are lean. Buying it in bulk allows me to get a cheaper price, but it has to be divided up to help the people who need it.

If you own a dehydrator, you can share more dried items. I have dried and shared blueberries, strawberries, marshmallows, chicken breasts, hamburger, sausage, mixed vegetables (use frozen), corn (use frozen), apple slices, orange slices, cabbage, collards, cheese, etc. I always put a moisture absorber in these items.

There are very tiny bags you can purchase to hold small quantities of vitamins and OTC medications.

Canned and boxed goods can be added into the bag or box with mylar bags. I have also packaged them in 5 gallon buckets and plastic household storage containers.

A few clothespins included in the box will help close the bags after opening to help keep the contents fresh until used. Some of the mylar bags I use can be sealed with heat and have a zipper closure that can be used once opened.

If you own an iron, then you can seal mylar bags. I have sealed hundreds of them with mine with no issues. I have even washed and reused mylar bags that came from the grocery store or came through the mail when I ordered something. You can also re-seal potato chip type mylar bags once you learn the settings on your iron. Tip: Thinner bags need less heat than thicker bags. Start low and add heat until you can get a seal. I wrote the temperature settings on my iron with a permanent marker.

These food kits can be left where you know the homeless frequent. In my area, there are two groups behind two different grocery stores. The local restaurants, convenience stores, and vegetable department managers of some grocery stores will leave things beside the dumpsters for them. If you see this happening, those can be a good place to leave a food gift.

We also make kits for ourselves for when we go camping, hiking, or on an all-day trip. We have also shared them with the elderly and disabled. They can be stored for hurricanes or other natural disasters too. I'd like to get to where I have nine five-gallon buckets packed with dried foods, water, and toiletries where we can grab and go if we need to evacuate. However, there are 8 of them and one of me. They will rob the buckets if they can't find what they need. I can not think of anywhere I can hide them all either.

A few different gospel tracts, a thrift store purchased Bible, and some Chrisitan reading material are easy to include in the boxes.

There are some in the homeless community who are hiding from the law. The keyword there is "some." This is a fact. Those individuals make face-to-face encounters very risky. Others may not be able to cope with human interaction and just want to be left alone. It is best to go with a group or to leave things where they can find them.

Article: Homeschooled Teen Wins Gold at Physics Olympiad

Homeschooled Teen Wins Gold at Physics Olympiad

Homeschooled student Evan Erickson has become one of the most accomplished teens on the planet when it comes to physics and math.

In July, the 17-year-old from Minnesota won a gold medal at the 51st International Physics Olympiad, where he competed as part of a five-member team representing the United States.

Evan’s mother, Rena, who has homeschooled her five children over the course of  23 years, admits she’s excited by Evan’s achievement and his moment of renown. She’s quick to add that she and her husband Dan encourage all their children to develop their full potential and to celebrate one another’s triumphs.

“We don’t compete with each other,” Rena said. “Everybody is everybody else’s cheerleader.”

Are you salty?

"Many churches today have too much sugar and not enough salt." -Bethany

Too many churches are helping Christians grow closer to the world-the same world Jesus called us out from.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." Matthew 5:13
