So, on our way home from one of our camping trips, we decided to do the Bald Mountain Jeep Trail off of Cole Road going down. It was at the halfway point of our journey home so it gave us a good break. We had always come up the mountain before, and we wanted to see how a descent would change the experience.
After we got a little way into it, a Toyota truck came up behind us. When we stopped to let them pass, a polite young man named Jerrod asked Clint if it was OK to follow us down the mountain so he could learn from us. He had just done a lot of work to his truck so he could start off-roading and this was his first off-roading trip! He was with three buddies of his Tristan, Bill from Tucson, and Hunter with a puppy named Chuck.
All of us had a blast!! Emily and Hannah loved having them around and were cheering for them. The soldiers were very patient in answering the girls' questions about their truck and their dog. Clint gave them some good off-roading pointers, and I made them a list of other off-roading places to explore.
The soldiers asked Clint if he was a Marine. Clint replied, "Almost!" and explained how he was disqualified from service just a couple of moments before swearing-in due to a tube in his ear. Jerrod looked Clint in the eye and said, "That is their great loss, sir."
