Obedience

What I am pondering today...

People go to the doctor when they are having health troubles and much of the time readily follow "doctor's orders" because they want to get well. We can get very "religious" about "my doctor said, so I have to." Everyone knows it is better to take care of our bodies so we don't get sick in the first place. There is a lot of value in being health conscious. It is easier to stay healthy than it is to recover from illness or live with disease. But our physical bodies are not the only or most significant part of us...

Turn that into life troubles and obeying God's Word, and suddenly there are plenty of excuses, procrastination, and half-heartedness.

Why are people more concerned about their very temporary bodies than their eternal souls? How can we help others to see their need for the Lord? Are we showing the world our concern for our physical health more than our spiritual health? When we minister to people's physical needs, are we also addressing the spiritual? Many are willing to give a blanket to the homeless, but few will share God's love at the same time.

Dear reader, I challenge you to search God's Word and seek out more ways you can obey Him in your life today. We treat obeying God like something burdensome when it should bring us great joy to give up our way for His after all He has done for us.
