"God will not give you more than you can handle."
This is another popular thing to say, even among the church, which is simply not true in light of God's Word.
2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:8-9 Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the trouble we suffered in Asia. We had great burdens there, which were greater than our own strength. We even gave up hope for life. In fact, it seems like God has been telling us we are going to die. But this is so that we will not trust in ourselves but in God, who raises people from death.
Read that last one again. They were tested beyond what they could handle so they would not trust in themselves but in God!
Who are we an imitator of with our words? Do we want to mislead or speak truth and edify (instruct or improve morally or intellectually)? What other common sayings do you hear or use that are not in accordance with God's truth? How can we change our commonly used sayings to reflect Truth?
